Ahora llega a las salas de cine Amos de Universo, la segunda adaptación en acción real para la pantalla grande de esta icónica franquicia, solo que a diferencia de su predecesora, esta nueva entrega entiende a la perfección todo el legado de más de 40 años de He-Man, incluyendo su lado cómico involuntario que nos ha llevado a los famosos “memes”, y lo abraza para entregarnos una divertida y emocionante cinta de acción llena de referencias y que tare de vuelta ese arquetipo de héroe clásico a la veja escuela cuando más lo necesitamos. Y aunque no es perfecta y puede que a muchos no les agrade su tipo de humor (sobre todo las y los más jóvenes), sin duda vale por completo la pena.

Amos del Universo es una nueva interpretación de esta querida franquicia, pero conservando toda su esencia, de tal manera que es perfecta tanto para fans como para nuevas audiencias: “Después de haber estado separado durante 15 años, la Espada de Poder guía al príncipe Adam (Nicholas Galitzine) de regreso a Eternia, donde descubre que su hogar ha sido devastado bajo el malévolo dominio de Skeletor (Jared Leto). Para salvar a su familia y a su mundo, Adam deberá unir fuerzas con sus aliados más cercanos, Teela (Camila Mendes) y Duncan/Man-At-Arms (Idris Elba), y abrazar su verdadero destino como He-Man, el hombre más poderoso del universo”.
“¡Yo tengo el Poder!°
Desde sus primeros minutos de Amos del Universo queda claro que Travis Knight, su director, comprende perfectamente qué es lo que hace especial a Masters of the Universe y lejos de avergonzarse de sus raíces, la película abraza la fantasía colorida, los personajes extravagantes y el tono aventurero que hicieron famosa a la caricatura original.
Eternia luce enorme, vibrante y llena de vida, convirtiéndose en uno de los mayores logros de la producción.
Uno de los aspectos más destacados son sus secuencias de acción;los enfrentamientos son dinámicos, visualmente impresionantes y aprovechan muy bien el amplio catálogo de héroes y villanos de la franquicia. A esto se suman unos efectos especiales que ayudan a dar credibilidad a criaturas, escenarios y personajes que fácilmente podrían haber resultado ridículos en una adaptación live-action, en cambio, la película consigue que todo encaje dentro de su propia lógica fantástica, inclusive logra justificar el nombre “infantil” de los personajes de una manera muy ingeniosa y divertida.
Los fanáticos de toda la vida encontrarán una enorme cantidad de referencias al material clásico, desde guiños a la serie animada de Filmation hasta detalles relacionados con las figuras de acción y elementos profundos de la mitología de Eternia y hasta en ciertas tomas. Lo mejor es que estos homenajes nunca se sienten forzados ni excluyen a quienes llegan por primera vez a este universo.
Sorprendentemente, la película también demuestra tener sentido del humor respecto al legado moderno del personaje; los memes que durante años han acompañado a He-Man forman parte del fenómeno cultural de la franquicia y la cinta los reconoce y los abraza de manera inteligente, generando algunos de los momentos más divertidos para el público veterano. Aunque puede que muchas personas no conecten con este humor.
Un héroe forjado a la antigua.
Más allá del espectáculo visual y la nostalgia, la película también logra transmitir uno de los mensajes más importantes que siempre ha acompañado a He-Man: la idea de que la verdadera fuerza nace de nuestras decisiones, nuestra valentía y nuestra voluntad para hacer lo correcto; la película deja claro que lo que realmente lo convierte en un héroe es su capacidad para levantarse ante la adversidad y actuar cuando los demás lo necesitan. Es un mensaje sencillo pero efectivo que recuerda por qué el personaje conectó con tantas generaciones y que sigue siendo relevante hoy en día: el poder para cambiar las cosas no está en una espada mágica, sino dentro de cada uno de nosotros.
Música que mezcla fantasía y epicidad ochentera.
Otro de sus grandes aciertos es su apartado musical, el score compuesto por Daniel Pemberton aporta épica, emoción y aventura en los momentos adecuados, ayudando a elevar varias secuencias clave de la película. Su trabajo logra capturar la sensación de una gran fantasía heroica sin perder la identidad propia de esta nueva versión de Eternia. También se incluyen temas musicales con licencia, pero curiosamente estos lejos de aportar, muchas veces se sienten forzados.
Lo malo.
Sin embargo, no todo funciona con la misma efectividad: El segundo acto presenta algunos problemas de ritmo y por momentos la narrativa pierde impulso mientras prepara el terreno para su espectacular desenlace. Asimismo, la película en ocasiones abusa de la comedia, provocando que ciertos chistes interrumpan escenas que intentan transmitir mayor peso dramático o emocional.
Las actuaciones también resultan algo inconsistentes, mientras algunos miembros del elenco logran encontrar el tono adecuado entre fantasía, aventura y humor, otros parecen estar interpretando una película distinta, generando altibajos en varios momentos importantes. Eso sin mencionar personajes de relleno que realmente no tienen justificación o contrapeso real.
Conclusión.
Amos del Universo logra algo que pocas adaptaciones modernas consiguen: entender por qué su material de origen sigue siendo relevante décadas después de su creación. no intenta reinventar a He-Man ni convertirlo en algo que no es; por el contrario, abraza sin complejos la fantasía, la aventura, el optimismo y el heroísmo que definieron a la franquicia desde sus inicios.

Con una Eternia espectacular, un excelente trabajo musical de Daniel Pemberton y un profundo respeto por más de cuarenta años de historia, Amos del Universo se convierte en una de las mejores adaptaciones cinematográficas de una serie animada clásica. No es perfecta, a veces abusa de la comedia y su segundo acto es inconsistente, pero al final el resultado es una aventura entretenida, espectacular y llena de corazón que seguramente hará sonreír a quienes crecieron levantando una espada imaginaria mientras gritaban: “¡Yo tengo el poder!”.
Amos del Universo se estrena en cines este 04 de junio, pero habrá funciones preestreno este 03 de junio y cuenta con dos escenas post-créditos: una cuando terminan los créditos animados o los “midcredits” y otra hasta el final.
